Jack in the Box pre-school - “Good” Ofsted
The inspection was carried out in November 2011 by Ofsted on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision and reports “Overall the quality of the provision is Good.” The report includes comments: “Children are happy and settled at the pre-school…motivated and interested in a broad range of activities...enjoy their learning and achieve well...happily play in small and larger groups but are equally confident to play independently.” (full report available at www.ofsted.gov.uk)
Jack in the Box Manager, Linda Ayres, says “We were delighted with our current Ofsted result and would like to thank our outstanding children.” Linda has been at the pre-school since it started 18 years ago and works with a close, friendly team of 8 people. The pre-school is also delighted to announce the election of a new Chair, Gill Osmond. Gill has lived in Wendover since 1986 and initially taught at John Hampden First School, then infants and nursery children in Chesham, before she became part of the Bucks Early Years Team as a consultant until retirement a couple of years ago.

The Wendover Pre-school
No longer do the children of The Wendover Pre-School in Wharf Road have to sing to make the clouds go away. The children and staff at the preschool, which has been in Wendover for over 40 years, were thrilled to start the spring term with a new all weather canopy for their setting.
Fundraising efforts, which have included a sponsored carnival walk around the village/fete and the sale of Christmas crafts and t- towels, were boosted by a very generous donation from the Harpenden Building Society in Wendover, and this has allowed the pre-school to erect the canopy much sooner than was originally anticipated.
All of the committee and staff would like to thank all of our parents and friends for their help in raising the money for what will soon become a valuable addition to the pre-school and to thank the Harpenden whole heartedly for their support and generous contribution to the fund.
