MS Centre Art Exhibition

Sat 10 March 10.00am—6pm, Sun 11 March 11.00am-4pm

Our annual Art Exhibition which has become a major showcase for local artists, will be held at the MS Centre at Halton as usual. This year will be the final  one  in our current building. In August the new Centre presently under construction, will be completed.

We will have in excess of 75 artists displaying and selling their work in various media. The Art Exhibition is a major fundraiser for the charity so please do come along and enjoy some extremely high quality art, wonderful homemade cakes, good company and you might just find something special to buy amongst the exhibits.  Anything you do buy will help to fund our work, every penny makes a difference.

In 2011 our clinical staff delivered 13,336 treatments to almost 500 local people who have multiple sclerosis (MS) and we desperately need the additional space the new building will provide to enable us to treat everyone who needs our help and support.  As resources allow, new services and treatments will be introduced.

We are extremely grateful to local business, individuals and Trusts who have supported our work over recent years and enabled us to maintain the level of services we provide while raising the £1.3m required for our new building.

Anyone wishing to know about our work, interested in supporting us with a donation or volunteering should contact Sue Barber, suebarber130@btinternet.com. You can even buy an engraved commemorative brick for the new building.

Twinning visit

Twinning Association

Saturday 28 April

Wendover Twinning Association will be hosting a party of friends from Liffré who will arrive on Saturday 28 April for a long weekend, and the committee is currently organising the programme of entertainment.

In spite of all the bad feeling that the press is determined to whip up between England and France, our Liffréen friends love coming here: many come year after year and are committed Anglophiles.  It is pleasing to note that new visitors who arrive very apprehensive about what Wendover (and England in general) has in store for them leave determined to come back at the earliest opportunity.  This is an attitude that  we should foster – after all, the Town Twinning  movement started soon after 1945 when it was vowed that Europe should never again be torn apart by war: the original idea was to establish and maintain friendships between countries. Our link with Liffré was sealed in 1976 with a signed charter which  is on display on the end wall of Wendover Library along with various gifts received over the years. We really want to keep the momentum going and to accomplish this we need new members of all ages.

However this is first and foremost a call to arms!  Can you help us by hosting a family, a couple or just one single Anglophile from Saturday 28 April to Tuesday 1 May?  There will be a programme of events and plenty of back-up for the nervous host, and you really don’t need to speak French.  Many of our Liffréen friends speak some English and Association members can help out.  For more information please phone one of the following: Barbara Jefford  624708; Mike Greaves 622778; Glynis Smith 625565.
