The Manor Waste
Budgens has been in dispute with Wendover Parish Council over access and safety issues on the Manor Waste for shops adjoining this area and their customers. While the Council have acknowledged many of the problems, they have declined to rectify the issues for a variety of reasons, namely, they believe they are not responsible, they do not have the authority, they do not have the staff or they do not have the money. We have an agreement with the council to store shopping trolleys in front of the shop. To my knowledge there have been no disputes, complaints or correspondence regarding this arrangement. Yet we have now received a letter from the council stating that they wish to take legal advice before agreeing to continue this arrangement. It is disturbing that WPC seem to want to make life difficult for retailers and their customers rather than support us. Surely there are better ways they could spend their time and our money.

To Dogwalkers
In Wendover, we dogs are very lucky to have so many green areas to play in. I’m thinking of Rope Walk Meadow; Hampden Meadow; Ashbrook Park and lots of other lovely spots.
What a shame that some of our owners do NOT clear up after us.
I often see owners walking well ahead of their dog(s) and not noticing when we do what comes naturally, leaving a pile of poo behind.
It is mainly the owners of small dogs that are at fault. There is little worse than stepping in animal faeces, but it becomes even more unpleasant when it is on a cricket pitch.
There is no excuse for this behaviour as the parish council offers pick-up bags at a reasonable cost, and bins in which to dispose of them.
If things do not improve, we could be BANNED from our favourite walks.

To Dog walkers in Witchell, Hampden and Rope Walk Meadows
Over the last two or three weeks I have noticed, when walking my two dogs, that there has been a lot of dog poo which has not been picked up by irresponsible dog owners. It is unpleasant for everyone and in particular children and adults playing in the recreation grounds. Please be responsible. Green poo bags can be obtained from the Tourist Information Office at The Clocktower in Wendover. Thank you<

Thank you
Thank you to the young man who, on the afternoon of 29 June, assisted me with my suitcase at Wendover Station. I was struggling, as I have hip and back problems and was not looking forward to carrying my case over the bridge. The railway services do not provide any support for those who have some difficulties and are not wheelchair bound, so such assistance is really appreciated!

Bega Kwa Bega health projects in Uganda - Thank You to all in Wendover
I would like to write to everybody in Wendover to say a big "THANK YOU" for your generous donations for my trip to visit the Bega Kwa Bega health projects in Uganda. As a student nurse this trip will provide invaluable experience and aid with my global health studies. This trip was made possible thanks to generous contributions from the Catholic Women’s League, Wendover Community Trust, King’s College Travel Awards Fund, individuals in the parish and those who sponsored my bike ride. I have raised £1685. Any left over money will be made as a donation to the charity. I look forward to sharing my experiences with everybody when I come back!

What an incredible evening on Saturday night 17 July, when the first ever ladies Midnight Walk took place in Aylesbury, organised by Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.
We would like to say a big Thank You to all the people who walked either 6 miles or 12 miles, many of them in memory of a loved one. There was much laughter, some tears and a few blisters but everyone achieved their own personal goal. The highlight had to be the flashing pink bunny ears worn by all the walkers and which were still being worn while they enjoyed a well-earned breakfast.
This type of event cannot be organised well and safely without a great deal of planning beforehand and meticulous detail on the night. I would like to extend a big Thank You to all the staff, volunteers, marshals and sponsors who helped to make it such a fantastic night to remember. And last but not least, a big Thank You to the people of Aylesbury and the surrounding area who have sponsored the walkers.
Pledges that have been made so far indicate a total of approximately £50,000 which will go towards the funding of palliative care services at Florence Nightingale Hospice. We are the only hospice in the area that has a 12-bedded Inpatient Unit, as well as Day Hospice, care in the home, the Florries Childrens’ Team and a Lymphoedema service, all of which is completely free to those who need it. The money that has been raised at this event by local people for local people will fund the equivalent of 3,125 hours of inpatient nursing time. A fantastic achievement by all those involved.
This is planned to be an annual event and the provisional date for 2011 is 16th July. We hope to see you there.
Thanks to each and every one of you.

To all parents of children at Wendover Schools on the John Colet Campus
It is getting scary driving to school with our children or even driving up Wharf Rd at 8am to 9am and 2.30pm to 4pm.
Can parents remember the bus stop is for the buses not for parents to clog up so the buses cannot get into the campus and then cause a traffic jam all the way passed the doctors surgery on Aylesbury Rd.
Ask your children to walk to a destination away from the school so the road is not congested.
I do not live in this Road but just feel scared every time I drive it because of selfish drivers who park on the road so vehicles cannot pass and in the bus stop that is actually PRIVATE property.
Let’s try and prevent an accident on this road. And try and make driving in Wendover a pleasure not a stressful experience.
